Bonded seals

Bonded seals are sealing rings, which consist of an outer metal ring to which a trapezoidal rubber ring is moulded on the inside. This compresses the inner rubber ring, forming a seal.

The metal ring ensures that the rubber ring is subjected to well defined compression and prevents it from being extruded through the gap.

The same basic concept can also be used to produce customised moulds for specific applications in any combination of rubber-to-metal or rubber-to-plastic-binding.

Bonded Seals are often used as bolt seals in hydraulic equipment and are commonly known as Dowty Seals or Dowty Washers.

Bonded seals are available in two types. Self-centralising or non-self-centralising. The self-centralising type has a rubber lip that maintains distance all the way around.

Advantages of the self-centralising type

  • Eliminates sealing offset
  • Eliminates leakages
  • Easy installation

Betech is also able to supply Bonded Seal Kits in Imperial and Metric sizes or as kits that are customised to perfectly match the needs of the customer.
